Alpine Ski Team & Dual Ski Registration
Alpine Skiing athletes cannot compete in any other Special Olympics Maine State Level Winter Sports Competition except Speedskating

Event Date: Wednesday March 1st

- Because of single day time constraints Athletes may only enter in 2 events in Ability Levels 2-4. **Level 1 Athletes will be able to compete in all 3 Level 1 events if they choose!**
- SOME will NOT be providing volunteer 1-on-1’s for athletes. It is recommended that Delegations provide the proper on mountain coverage for those Athletes who need it.
- Special Olympics Maine will provide Dual Skis and Tether’s at the competition venue.
Use the Alpine Skiing Criteria assessment found in the Alpine Skiing Rules & Regulations, www.somaine.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/SOMaine-Alpine-Skiing-Rules-Regulations-2016.pdf, to determine your athlete’s Ability Level. All Alpine Skiing athletes are required to provide their own equipment which must include an FIS Rated/stickered helmet.
You will need the following information to complete this registration process:
o HOD Name & Email
o Head Alpine Skiing Head Coach Name & Email
o Assistant Alpine Skiing Coach Name
o Athlete: Name, Date of Birth, Ski Ability Level & Events
Athletes must have a current Athlete Medical and Release and Communicable Diseases Waiver on file with SOMaine prior to competition date in order to be properly registered for any Special Olympics Maine competition. Medicals remain current for three years and the release is good forever (or until updated).
All Coaches need to meet the minimum requirements of a SOMaine Coach (Volunteer A Application, Protective Behaviors certification & Concussion Awareness and Safety certification –each are required every three years, Communicable Diseases Waiver is also required and does not expire) as well as the Unified Partner Release form prior to competition date to be properly registered for any Special Olympics Maine competition.
