Special Olympics Maine Equestrian Coaches Training 2023!!
Hearts & Horses Farm

Sunday April 16th 10 am – 3 pm.
Lunch will be provided.
This is a certification to coach Athletes! Training is FREE!
Who Should Sign Up For Coaches Training At Hearts and Horses? Anyone 16 yrs of age or older who has never attended training and wants to become a Special Olympics Coach or Assistant Coach.
***Special Note***: Are you a certified coach who has volunteers in your program that you feel would benefit from more training on horse handling and how to support athletes as side walkers? If so, please reach out to Kim Kennedy: kkennedy@kidsrsu.org Your input will help us create a plan to better support you and your team!
Requirements:
- Attend the in-person Equestrian Coach Certification Course at Hearts & Horses.
- Complete 10 additional hours of practicum (hands-on training) at a Special Olympics approved facility (Hearts & Horses, Buxton, ME, Healing Horses, Bowdoin, ME, or Riding to the Top, Windham, ME.)
- Submit a Sports Application to Special Olympics Maine. (You will receive this paperwork at coaches training)
By completing this course, coaches will work towards becoming a Special Olympics Maine Level 1 Equestrian Head Coach. The training will be inside and outside, on and around horses. All attendees should come prepared with the appropriate attire.
