Sable Oaks Marriott – South Portland
Special Olympics Maine is excited to announce it will host its Unified Champion Schools Inclusion Revolution Youth Summit on Friday November 15th from 9am-1pm at Sable Oaks Marriott in South Portland! The Inclusion Revolution Youth Summit is designed for students with and without disabilities to come together to learn how Unified Champion Schools can positively change their entire school climate. This event will provide professional development opportunities to students and liaison in Unified Sport, Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement as well as networking and sharing best practices with other schools across the state.
Play a part in building the future “Game Changers” in your school. We encourage schools to recruit at least 1 Unified Pair (1 student with intellectual disabilities & 1 student without intellectual disabilities) and a school liaison (faculty member who oversees Unified Champion schools) to attend this “Game Changing” event! We encourage your school to join the Inclusion Revolution on November 15th!
There is no cost to this event and lunch will be provided. All participating schools will also receive a free Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign kit to help promote the R-word Campaign. Special Olympics Maine is also offering funding to schools to support their Youth Summit team, which would cover allowable expenses associated with this event (ie transportation, hotel arrangements for those schools traveling from a distance etc).
Topics will include but not limited to:
- Meaningful Inclusion
- Inclusive Youth Leadership – how to tell your school’s story
