Camp Tall Pines
Camp Tall Pines offers year-round vacationing experiences to persons with intellectual disabilities. It is located on 5 1/2 acres on Lower Range Pond in Poland, Maine and was founded in 1968. Through 1992 Camp Tall Pines was used solely as a summer day camp for the residents of Pineland Center. It was operated by Pineland staff and funded by The Camp Tall Pines Foundation, a private non-profit organization. Camp Tall Pines offered a traditional summer camp and waterfront activities to Pineland residents of all ages.
In January of 1993, Pineland Center deeded Camp Tall Pines to Special Olympics Maine and has been owned and operated by Special Olympics Maine since. Special Olympics Maine has increased the use of Camp Tall Pines by offering overnight camping to persons with intellectual disabilities, hosting up to 32 campers weekly from all over the state of Maine.
Camp Tall Pines offers a formal Summer Season (June – August) consisting of 10-1 week (Monday through Friday) vacation opportunities, as well as a first, come first serve option for non-summer season vacationing.
