Whether your interest is competitive, social, or fitness-focused, we want you on our team

Special Olympics Maine provides year-round sports training, competitions, health and wellness programs, leadership opportunities, and community connections for athletes across the state — all at no cost to participants.

Anyone age 8 or older with an intellectual disability can become a Special Olympics athlete. Children ages 2–7 are eligible for our Young Athletes™ program.

Fill out the Athlete Intake Form to let us know you’re interested in participating.

A Regional Manager or Special Olympics Maine staff member will contact you to learn about your interests and help connect you with programs, teams, and opportunities near you!

Whether it’s joining a local team, participating in a recreation program, athlete leadership, or something in between we’ll help you find the opportunity that’s right for you!
