Hundreds of Lobster Dippers “Shell-ebrated” New Year’s Day at the Beach!

It was a beautiful, sunny 50-degree January day in Maine for the 35th Annual Special Olympics Maine Lobster Dip on New Year’s Day.

This year, a new record of 516 first time and veteran dippers took a plunge into the 42-degree wintery waters of the Atlantic in Old Orchard Beach.

For the first time in Lobster Dip history, the event reached its goal of $100K BEFORE January 1st!

Reaching the original goal didn’t stop dippers from raising a shattering record-breaking amount of $177,106 with more donations coming in!

As Special Olympics Maine President & CEO, Phil Geelhoed announced to the crowd on New Year’s Day, “We asked, and you answered!”
